    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: 4 October 2026

fitBud helps Indian families plan meals, track health and manage the family budget. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and how you can see or delete your data. It follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

    1. What we collect

Account. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile photo from Google.

Health and fitness details you enter. Age, sex, height, weight, goal, activity level and health conditions (for example diabetes or high blood pressure); meals, water, sleep, steps, workouts, yoga sessions, medicines and reminders.

Family details you enter. Names, ages and health notes of the family members you add.

Money details you enter. Income, spending, EMIs, savings and grocery lists for the family budget.

Location, only when you use it. When you start a walk on the map, the app records your route and saves it with the walk; a few points of the route are sent to OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) to name the places you passed. When you look for the nearest hospitals, your location is used on your phone to pick hospitals from fitBud's list; if you type a place instead, that text is sent to OpenStreetMap to find it. The app never reads your location in the background.

Voice, only when you tap the microphone. Voice entry (for example saying a grocery item) uses your phone's or browser's own speech recognition, which may send the audio to its maker (such as Google or Apple) to turn it into text. fitBud receives only the text.

Technical details. Your language choice, the device's push-notification address (only if you turn on reminders), and basic usage statistics such as which pages are opened. We do not collect your contacts or your phone's photos.

    2. Why we use it

    • To run the app: build meal plans, show your progress, send the reminders you set, and make the monthly family report.
    • To answer an AI meal check: the words you type about a meal are sent to our AI provider to estimate calories and protein.
    • To keep the app safe, fix problems and improve it.

We use your health details only to give you the service. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads based on it, and we do not share it with insurers, employers or advertisers.

    3. Who helps us run fitBud

    • Vercel (USA) hosts the app and receives every request to it.
    • Neon (USA) stores the database, so it holds all the data you save.
    • Anthropic (USA) runs the AI meal check and receives only the meal text you type for a check.
    • Google handles "Sign in with Google" if you choose it.
    • OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) turns walk points and typed place names into place names and map positions.
    • Our email provider sends password-reset and account emails to your address.
    • Razorpay or Google Play (when paid plans start) take payments. We never see your full card number or UPI PIN.

These services process data only on our instructions. Your data may be stored outside India, with the same protection described here.

    4. Data saved on your phone

To work without internet, the app keeps a copy of your meal plans, budget, grocery list, My Day and home screen on your device. Signing out or deleting your account removes these copies.

    5. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our database immediately. Copies in our hosting providers' backups expire within 30 days.

    6. Your rights

    You can:

    • See and correct your data at any time in the app.
    • Delete your account and all its data: open Settings → Delete my account. If you cannot sign in, see Delete your account.
    • Withdraw consent by deleting your account or turning off reminders.
    • Ask a question or complain to our Grievance Officer (below). We reply within 7 days and resolve within 30 days. You may also approach the Data Protection Board of India.

    7. Children

fitBud accounts are for people aged 18 and over. A parent or guardian may add a child's details as a family member and is responsible for that child's consent.

    8. Security

Data is sent over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and only the account owner can see their data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

    9. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app for important changes.

    10. Contact and Grievance Officer
